Diane Elizabeth (Crytzer) Edge, 67, of Meadville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 2, 2022.
She was born August 6, 1955 in Mount Lebanon, a daughter of the late Constance (Connie) and John Crytzer.
Diane was a 1973 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School and had fond memories of spending many warm summer nights enjoying Conneaut Lake Park with friends. In fact, her first job was working at the Park’s concession stand and then at the Fairyland Forest. The Park continued to hold a special place in her heart for the rest of her life.
Diane married Raymond Wallace Edge, Jr. on August 26, 1978. They lived in a number of different locations as jobs changed and their family grew, eventually settling in Waldorf, MD.
She held a number of jobs over the years where she achieved success, but her most cherished role was as a tireless advocate for the deaf community. She was appointed by the Governor of Maryland as a member of the Maryland Advisory Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and she was a member of the Southern Maryland Association of Deaf Children. She worked with Charles County (Maryland) Sheriff Frederick E. Davis to develop a deaf visor card program that garnered national acclaim, and she also was the co-founder of Southern Maryland Interpreting service. Diane was also the former owner of an antique store and Med Wear, a medical uniform store, both in Maryland.
After her husband’s retirement, they returned to Pennsylvania to settle in Meadville. They enjoyed having the opportunity to be surrounded by family, actively engaging with their community, and also adopting a number of very well-loved pets.
Diane is survived by her husband; two brothers, Robert Crytzer (Julie) and Tom Crytzer (Judy); her sister, Jill Hughes (Mark); her two children, Heather Lang (Jason) and Patrick Edge; her granddaughter, Ryhanna Lang; many nieces and nephews, Jaime Fattler, Adriane Doubet (Shad), Travis Crytzer, Sequoia Whitmer (Sam), Sara Schultz (Rob), Jeremy Crytzer (Rebecca), and Kurt Crytzer (Alexis); great-nieces, great-nephews; and other extended family.
