Dieter P. Lotze, 54, of Meadville, died Thursday, December 24, 1987, at Meadville Medical Center following a long illness.
Mr. Lotze was born in Hannover, West Germany, December 12, 1933, a son of Harry and Hanna Beckman Lotze. He married Barbara Kalo October 6, 1958. She survives.
He attended elementary school in Sulze, West Germany and secondary school in Celle, West Germany. He was a graduate of West Berlin Free University, West Berlin. He received his doctorate in modern languages from the University of Innsbruck, Austria in 1961. He immigrated to the US in 1961 and became a naturalized citizen in 1967.
He joined Allegheny College's faculty in 1961 as an instructor of modern languages.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Ulrich, Jurgen and Reinhard, all of West Germany.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
