Donald C. King

Donald C. King, 85 of Fairview Township, passed away on November 2, 2018 at Orchard Manor in Grove City. Donald was born on September 9, 1933 in Coolspring Township to the late Donald G. and Ruth L. Miller King. Donald was a 1951 graduate of Stoneboro High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 as a paratrooper After his military service Donald worked at Fredonia Feed Mill from 1959 to 1969, then went to Sakrete in Fredonia from 1969 until he retired in 1999 as a plant foreman. Donald was a longtime member of Coolspring Presbyterian Church. He formerly belonged to the the Star Promenader Square Dance Club in Sandy Lake. Donald enjoyed working on the family farm, working at his brother-in-laws saw mill and helping on the Trevitt farm. Most of all he loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donald is survived by his loving wife at home, Faye M. “Tiny” (Vath) King, who he married on March 26, 1955. Donald is also survived by his daughter, Patricia Hittle and husband William of Mercer, son Duane King and wife Judy of Mercer, three grandchildren Keith Hittle and wife Cristina of Mercer, Andy King and Fiancé Kimberly Voorhies of Stoneboro, Morgan Ligo and husband Seth of Fredonia, six great-grandchildren, Madeline Hittle, Leo, Logan, Lydia, and Raelynn King, and Makaila Ligo, sister Mary Lou Kerr, Medina, OH, brother George King and wife Peggy of Mercer, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Ryan Hittle, one brother Howard King, and four sisters, Lucille King, Margaret Carbone, Myrtle Knauff, and Estella Knauff. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome on Monday, November 5, from 4 pm until 8 pm. Addition visitation will be from 10 am – 10:45 am on Tuesday, Nov 6, at Coolspring Presbyterian Church, 787 Coolspring Church Road, Mercer, PA 16137. A funeral service will follow in the church at 11 am with the Reverend Mark Frailey, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
