Donald W. (Buss) Chase

Donald W. (Buss) Chase, 77, of Meadville, died Thursday, March 2, 1989, at Wesbury following several months of failing health.

Mr. Chase was born in Meadville, August 18, 1911, a son of Oran and Eva Smith Chase.  He married Mabel Higham February 4, 1933.  She preceded him in death February 25, 1983.  He subsequently married Wiltha Thiess April 14, 1984.  She survives.

He retired as office manager at Talon Inc. after 45 years of service with the company.  He also operated Chase Printing Co.  He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was a former trustee, Sunday School superintendent and Sunday School teacher of the church.  He was a member and former vice president of Talon Management Club.  He was a member of the American Management Assoc.  He was active with the Boy Scouts of America and received the Scouts' Silver Beaver Award.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Donald W. Chase, Jr. of Nashville, TN and Richard G. Chase of Meadville; one step-daughter, Mrs. James (Mary Lynn) Beatty of Greenville; two stepsons, David Thiess of Meadville and Dr. Eric Thiess of Simpsonville, SC; one sister, Dorothy Soleida of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Earll and two brothers, Harry and Joseph Chase.

Services were held at the Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
