Donald D. Harig

Donald D. Harig, 83 of Fairview Twp, Stoneboro, passed away on June 8, 2021 at his home. Don was born in Youngstown on April 4, 1938 to the late Howard H. and Dorothy Mae (Gebhardt) Harig. He entered into the United States Marine Corps Reserves and served from 1955-1961. Don was also a carpenter by trade belonging to the Youngstown Local #171 and the Shenango Valley Local #241. He built many homes and businesses in the Youngstown area and the Shenango Valley. Don married his beloved wife, Nancy (Lester) Harig on August 25, 1961, she preceded him in death on July 25, 2019. In 1976 Don and Nancy bought their farm in Fairview Township and moved from Youngstown. He enjoyed making hay on his farm and growing corn. Don was an avid hunter and enjoyed deer season, passing along his hunting skills to his sons, who in turn passed them onto their children. He was also able to fix nearly anything and always enjoyed the challenge. He and his late wife were members of Coolspring Presbyterian Church. Don is survived by his sons, Alan (Joanne) Harig of Canonsburg, David Harig of Plain City, OH, Philip Harig of Stoneboro, and Paul Harig of Sandy Lake, grandchildren Alexa, Amber, Ashley, Kyle, Drew, Kristen, Julie, Michelle, and Alex, and great-grandchildren Ryder, Pyper, Xaver, Zoey, Lucas, and Ethan. In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Adrianne Marie Harig-Oliva, and sister Carolyn McCorkle. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 5-7 pm on Friday, June 11, and from 10-11 am on Saturday June 12. A funeral service will follow visitation on Saturday at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
