Donald E. (Jake) Griffin, 68, of Palm Beach Garden, FL, formerly of Meadville, a car dealership owner, died Sunday, March 22, 1992, at Jupiter Hospital in Jupiter, FL. He was born in Cochranton, May 13, 1923, a son of Elbe and Mayme Cotterman Griffin. He married Rachel Steinbrenner, June 29, 1943. She preceded him in death July 8, 1946. He subsequently married Barbara Brown Van Dyle, November 21, 1981. She survives. He joined his father and brother in Griffin-Cotterman Auto Agency, Cochranton, in 1946 before opening Griffin Motors, Meadville in 1959. He was a partner in Griffin Plymouth, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Eagle of Franklin. He retired in 1984. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II with the US Army, serving in China, Burma and India Theater. He also was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Solomon Royal Arch Chapter, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Crawford County Shrine Club, Kismet Grotto, New Castle Consistory, a life member of the Meadville Elks Lodge, Franklin Club and Meadville Country Club. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Mrs. James (Kathleen) New of Ambler; a son, Thomas C. Griffin of Meadville; a step son, Dr. Mark Van Dyke of Pittsburgh; a step daughter, Patricia A. Van Dyke of Scarsdale, NY; a brother, Harold W. Griffin of Cochranton; two nieces; four grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home. Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery. Services Past Services
