Donald E. Reither, 63 of Mercer, passed away on March 18, 2018 at 7:12 PM at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler with his loving wife by his side. Donald was born on March 28, 1954 in Grove City to Edwin P. Reither and Charlene Lawson Reither. He was a 1972 graduate of Lakeview High School and went on to serve our country in both the United States Air Force from 1972-1976 and the United States Navy from 1976-1979. Donald was married to his beloved wife, Barbara Anne Mudrak Reither, on October 15, 1994, she survives. Donald was a God-Loving man and loved to teach the word of God. He was a member of the Grove City Christian Missionary Alliance Church and was very active in many men’s groups and retreats. He loved teaching the first graders at the church with his wife and never stopped spreading the word of our Lord. Donald’s testimony of his final journey was that of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in Daniel 3:16-18. In addition to his faith, Donald loved to golf at many different courses. He was also an outdoorsman loving to hunt deer and work with wood. He was always ready for an adventure and taking a road trip, especially on his beloved Harley. He loved music and learning to play new instruments, most recently the banjo. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Donald is survived by his mother, Charlene Reither, son Travis James Reither of Sneads Ferry, NC, daughter Ashley Nicole Reither and husband Samuel Pino of Jacksonville, NC, grandchildren Bruce Arthur and Chloe Nevaeh, sisters Cheryl Carothers and husband James of Spring Grove, PA, Bonnie Burgard and husband Bob of Stoneboro, and Sonya Ferguson and husband Rick of Mercer, as well as many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his father, Edwin P. Reither. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, March 21, a funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 22, at 11 am with Pastor Paul Renicks, Pastor of Grove City Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Officiating. Following the service full Military Honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Center. Memorials may be made in Don’s name to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Drive, Butler, PA 16001.
