Donald F. Obert

July 24, 1949 — May 5, 2010

Donald F. Obert, Jr., 60, of Linesville, went home to be with his Lord who gave him his strength, guidance and direction Wednesday, May 5, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.  He endured a lot in his fight against cancer to regain his health right up to the end.

He was born in Titusville, July 24, 1949, a son of Donald F. and Evelyn Lyda Obert, Sr.  He married Rhonda Caywood May 14, 1994.

Don was a 1967 graduate of Townville High School and attended Thiel College, Greenville.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1968 to 1971.  He was employed at Associated Contractors, Inc. for 20 years as a project manager and truly enjoyed his job.  He was a hard-working man who ensured things were done right.

Don was a very loving man who leaves behind countless memories of laughter and fun times, caring and reliability were among his many wonderful qualities.  He had a passion for life and the Lord he served.  He was dearly loved and he will live on in our hearts forever.  He was the founder of The Grandma Bear Ministries through his church, The First Assembly of God, Meadville, where he was a member.

His greatest loves were his wife, family, fishing, softball, woodworking, crossword puzzles and morning coffee runs to his favorite restaurants.

He leaves behind his wife and best friend Rhonda Obert; his mother, Evelyn Obert of Titusville; four children, Mellissa Loccisano and her husband Edward of Meadville, Christine Atnip and her husband Kenneth of Guys Mills, Bobbie Jo Lee of Birmingham, AL and Duane Lee of Linesville; a sister, Rosella Hoepfl and her husband Michael of Titusville; a brother, Frank Obert and his wife Susie of Titusville; thirteen grandchildren, Emily and Ashley Loccisano, Altah Petrov and her husband Levski, Samantha Greenawalt and her husband Brian, Michelle, Mary Ann, Kenneth Jr., Aimee and Jeremiah Atnip, Malayshia Mildred King, Samantha Lee Fowler, Summer Elizabeth Lee and Erika Lee; six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant sister, Barbara.

A memorial service to celebrate Don's life will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at The First Assembly of God Church, 719 Washington Street, Meadville with the Rev. Philip Torre, Pastor, officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

There will be no calling hours.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care provided by the staff at the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute and Meadville Medical Center.
