Donald I. Buttray

February 14, 1916 — September 24, 1981

Dr. Donald I. Buttray, 65, of Cochranton, died at City Hospital Thursday, September 24, 1981 after being stricken whole at work in his Meadville office.

He was born in Meadville, February 14, 1916, a son of Alonzo P. and Ethel Abell Buttray.  He married Edna F. Rockwell March 23, 1935.

Dr. Buttray was self-employed as a chiropractor for 29 years.  Previously he worked as a linotype operator at the Meadville Tribune.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Men's Bible Class, Pennsylvania Chiropractic Society, International Chiropractor Assoc., Meadville Masonic Lodge 408, Meadville Club, Cochranton Sportsmen's Club and Yesterday's Sounds Barbershop Chorus.  He was a graduate of Palmer School of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Buttray is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Lynn) Duncan of Fort Lauderdale, FL; two sons, Irven P. of Cochranton and Jeffrey M. of Detroit; four sisters, Mrs. Esther Hadlock, Mrs. Irene Rockafellow, Miss Ruth Buttray and Mrs. Richard (Florence) Miller, all of Meadville; three brothers, Howard W. and Alfred E. of Meadville and Stanley R. in Japan; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
