Donald J. Dunbaugh

Donald J. Dunbaugh, 64, of Meadville, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Meadville Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born in Meadville October 22, 1945, a son of the late Leroy G. and Mildred Jackson Dunbaugh.  He married Vivien Griffin December 20, 1969.

He was a 1963 graduate of Meadville High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1969.  He was employed at Polk Center for 7 years, retiring in 2009 as an equipment operator.  He previously worked as a tool and die maker at various area tool companies and briefly worked as a self-employed tool and die maker.

Don was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the Presque Isle Gun Club and Street Rods of Northwest PA.  He enjoyed coin collecting, was a pilot and had his own plane at one time, and was proud of learning to water-ski at age 50.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Vivien of 40 years, include two daughters, Arlene Bump and her husband Daniel of Meadville and Allyson Dunbaugh and her fiancé Matthew Allen of Carlton; five grandchildren, Alexis, Andreana, Adam, and Alec Bump and Lorelai Allen; a sister-in-law, Mary Dunbaugh of Dickinson, TX; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Dunbaugh.

Calling hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dave Brumagin of the Pastoral Care Department at Meadville Medical Center officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery with military honors provided by Harm Jan Huidekoper VFW Post #2006, Meadville.
