Donald D. Jones

Donald D. Jones, 74, of Stoneboro passed away on January 18, 2025. Don was born to the late Robert J. and Nellie J. Jones on October 15, 1950. Don graduated from Lakeview High School in 1968.

On October 27, 1979, Don married the love of his life, Susan Shaw, and loved her faithfully.

Don sat on The Great Stoneboro Fair Board of Directors from 1996 until just recently, serving as Director of the Dairy Department. He was also awarded the 2021 Friend of the Fair award by the Department of Agriculture for his dedication. He was responsible for designing the milking parlor and could always be found there during the fair. Don also sat on the board of the Pymatuning Mutual Insurance. He was a member of 4H in his younger years and later enjoyed serving as a club leader. Don worked a variety of jobs within the farming industry throughout his life, including working for the DHIA, the Sandy Lake Mill, Star Silo, Pringle’s Feed Mill, and Sandy Lake Implement. The job he truly poured his heart into was the one he worked with his father, being the Mercer County Pioneer Seed Corn Dealer for 55 years.

Don was a family man, but not in the traditional sense. Don considered good friends as part of his family. He would do anything for anyone and had the most generous heart. He was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Don is survived by his wife and their children, Marti (Bill) Lewis; Tammy (Chris) Clark; Keith (Cyndi) Jones; Jenny (Clint) Baker; and Sarah (Justin) Yeagley. Don leaves behind eight grandchildren: Shawna Clark, Rusty (Tracy) Laidlaw, Josh Richardson, Derek (Morgan Murphy) Jones, Adam (Taylor) Clark, Hadley Yeagley, Brett Jones, and Caden Baker. Five great-grandchildren, Kyrie, Weston, Bennett, Leo, and Jack, hold Don’s memory dearly as do several nieces and nephews. Don’s siblings, Ken Jones; Sue Nicoletto; and Darlene Phillips, also mourn the loss of their brother.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randy Jones.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 99 Franklin St. Stoneboro, PA 16153. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 3-7 PM on Thursday, January 23. A private family funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 24 starting at 11:00AM. This service will be live-streamed on Rose and Black Funeral Home's Facebook page, and the live stream will start at approximately 10:55AM.
