Donald L. Rudd

Donald L. Rudd, 73, of Meadville, died Thursday, June 14, 2001 at Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.

He was born in Meadville, March 29, 1928, a son of the late Earl and Ruth Poulson Rudd.  He married Nancy Jane Oram July 16, 1948 and she preceded him in death December 14, 1997.

He was a 1946 graduate of Meadville High School and a US Army Veteran, serving from 1946 to 1948.  He worked at the former Meadville Telephone Company and its successor, Alltel for 36 years, retiring in 1984 as plant supervisor.  He was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219, Meadville Masonic Lodge 408, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville, Black Ash Sportsman's Club and the National Rifle Assn.  He was a former Babe Ruth League baseball coach and avid hunter and outdoorsman.

He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a 50-year usher.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Rudd Dietrich (Kerry) of Waterford and Susan Rudd Jageman of Meadville; one son, Bruce H. Rudd of Meadville; a close friend, Elizabeth Walker of Meadville and five grandchildren, James and Bryon Rudd and Donnelle, Rickie and Jacob Jageman.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Earl Rudd who died in the Vietnam War in 1968 and two brothers, Howard and Paul Rudd.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
