Donald O. Hornstein, 85, of Meadville, died Thursday, November 30, 2000 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.
He was born in Meadville, January 25, 1915, a son of Arthur and Alverna Siverling Hornstein. He married Helen K. Kelyman September 20, 1947 at Stone United Methodist Church in Meadville and she survives.
He retired in 1978 as Production Planning Supervisor at Talon after 43 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge #408, the Erie Consistory and a life member of the Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall. He was a former member of the Meadville Elks Lodge #219 and Eagle's Aerie #429. He enjoyed working outdoors.
He was a veteran of World War II serving as a Staff Sargent with the US Army 89th Chemical Mortar Battalion.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, K. Dale Hornstein (Cherrie) of Conneaut Lake and Donald A. Hornstein (Linda) of Conneaut Lake; a daughter, Karen Hopkins (Stan) of Saegertown; a brother, Robert L. Hornstein of Meadville; six grandchildren, Kenneth Hornstein, James Hornstein, Christopher Hornstein, Stacey Heile, Alan Hornstein and Ryan Hornstein and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Hornstein; a grandson, David Davis and a great-grandson, Graydon Hornstein.
Services were held at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
