Donald R. Mcgowan

Donald R. McGowan, 82, of Meadville died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Crawford County Care Center.

He was born October 12, 1935 in Buffalo, NY a son of John J. and Theresa Fandl McGowan.  He married Phyllis A. Lemke July 21, 1979 and she survives.

He was a 1954 graduate of Burgard Vocational High School in Buffalo and served in the US Army from 1955-1957.  He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church, Elks Lodge 219, VFW Post 2006 and the Meadville Club.  He enjoyed taking care of his home, gardening and travels around the US.  He was also a Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Phyllis, of 38 years, include: two step-sons, Jeffrey D. Bull and his wife Laurie of Oregon and Darrell J. Bull and his companion Terry of Wattsburg, PA; two step-daughters, Dixie L. Warren of Erie and Krista L. Dusza and her husband Timothy of Alden, NY; two sisters, Patricia R. Stasio of Williamsville, NY and Kathleen Sullivan and her husband James of Buffalo, NY; seven step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy Solomon, Pastor of Emmanuel Community Church, officiating and military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to Emmanuel Community Church, 30 N. Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
