Donald S. Bennett, 72, of Meadville, died Sunday, November 16, 1997, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Akron, OH, August 9, 1925, a son of Walter N. and Ada Stewart Bennett. He married Hazel M. Kersey, November 15, 1946. She survives.
He retired from Montgomery Ward and Co. in retail sales after 33 years of service. He later worked for several years at Weldon's. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Meadville Elks Lodge No. 219, and Huidekoper Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of World War II with the US Marine Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater. He was also a Boy Scout leader for many years and was an avid golfer and bowler.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Timothy S. Bennett of Monroe, MI and Robert B. Bennett of Erie; a brother, Edgar L. Bennett of Akron, OH; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
