Dora Betty Smith

Dora Betty Smith, 93, formerly of Harmonsburg and residing with her daughter in Lynchburg, VA died there Wednesday, June 03, 2015.

She was born March 6, 1922 in Ashtabula, OH a daughter of Charles and Coral Fores English.  She married Vernon H. Smith, Jr. August 1, 1942 at Lakehurst, NJ Naval Station and he preceded her in death October 10, 1989.

She was a 1940 graduate of Harbor High School in Ashtabula and had been a member of the Saybrook (OH) United Methodist Church.

She was a lifetime member of the Harmonsburg Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxialliary.  She enjoyed bowling at East Side Lanes, playing dominos, knitting, crocheting and classic car shows.  Most of all, however, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl M. Smith of Lynchburg, VA; two sons, Terry L. Smith and his wife Kathy of Saegertown and Jerauld L. Smith and his wife Janey of Harmonsburg; two sisters, Coral Lorene Grillo of Pinellas Park, FL and Kathryn Ann Kirk and her husband Dale of Glenmont, OH; fifteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James Michael Smith and Vernon Timothy Smith; a granddaughter, Amber Smith and two brothers, Charles Eugene English and William Harry English.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.  The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Brumagin, officiating.

Interment will be in Saybrook Cemetery, Saybrook Twp., OH.
