Dora Schultz

August 10, 1888 — March 14, 1973

Mrs. Dora Schultz, 84, of Meadville, widow of Dr. John Richie Schultz, former president of Allegheny College, died at Spencer Hospital Wednesday, March 14, 1973, after an illness of several weeks.

Dr. Schultz was a professor of English at Allegheny before becoming dean of men, acting president and then president at Allegheny.  He was named acting president in 1942 and president in 1943.  He died August 11, 1947.

Mrs. Schultz was born August 10, 1888, at Monticello, MO, a daughter of James and Anna Orcutt Nelson.  She was graduated from Culver-Stockton College at Canton, MO, and taught school in Missouri for several years after graduation.  She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, the Daughters of American Revolution, Philo Mathesian Club and the Iroquois Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Laurana) Fish of Erie; a son, James Richie Schultz of Lafayette, CA and six grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
