Doris Ann Smith, 62, of Conneaut Lake died Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born April 7, 1949 in Meadville a daughter of Leroy Joseph and Virginia Louise Adsit Mercier. She had been married to Nelson Smith.
She was a graduate of Conneaut Lake High School. She worked as an aid at Polk State Center in Polk, PA and then had a day care center in her home when she lived in Oil City. She was a very active member of Faith Geneva United Methodist Church and chaired its Circle of Friends. She was Secretary of the Adsit Cemetery Association. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, needlepoint, collecting matchbooks and Cabbage Patch dolls and loved her dog.
Survivors, include: three brothers, Jim Mercier and his wife Melinda of Erie; Don Mercier and his wife Shirley of Geneva and George Mercier and his wife Janice of Conneaut Lake; eight nephews, James, John, Jeremy, Jon, Mike and his wife Beth, Mark and his wife Debbie, Jeff and Braden Mercier; two step-daughters, Lori Ferry and her husband Dave of Cochranton and Michelle Scott and her husband Ken of Hadley; two step-sons, Lee Smith and his wife Tonya of Cochranton and Michael Smith of Lawton, OK; and several step grandchildren and great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Smith.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Cindy Duffee, Pastor of Faith Geneva United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery, Frenchtown.
