Miss Doris E. Craig, 69, of Meadville, died yesterday at Spencer Hospital of injuries suffered Sunday in a freak auto accident near her home.
She sustained head and face injuries about noon when she fell to the pavement after getting out of a car operated by William J. Livsey.
Miss Craig, one of several persons in the Livsey car, had been taken to her home after attending church services. Her coat caught in the car door when it was shut and was noticed by Mrs. Livesey and Miss Craig just as the car started to move. The car's sudden stop reportedly caused fer to fall to the pavement.
Miss Craig was taken to the hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
She was born in Washington, PA, January 25, 1894, a daughter of Thomas V. and Margaret Huffman Craig, and was affiliated with First Baptist Church.
Miss Craig was employed as a nurse for the Cooper Coal, Co., Mt. Hope, WV, for 15 years. For a number of years she was a school nurse in Vernon School District with West Mead Township and Meadville school districts. Miss Craig was employed for a couple of years as a nurse at Bethesda Home. Since then, she had reportedly done private nursing jobs and worked occasionally at Spencer Hospital.
She was a life member of Lincoln Chapter 112, Order of the Eastern Star, Washington.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Rulef (Eleanor) Hovey of Addison, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Washington, PA.
