Doris E. Jackson

Doris E. Jackson, 94, of Meadville, passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born June 1, 1921 in West Decatur, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Elva Motter Rothrock.  She married John E. Jackson January 20, 1946 and he preceded her in death August 31, 1992.

A high school graduate, Doris worked in production at GTI, Saegertown and subsequently at Talon, Inc.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, active volunteer at the Meadville Soup Kitchen and was a member of the East Fairfield Township board of elections for many years.  She enjoyed attending the Guys Mills and Meadville Senior Centers, playing cards, and bowling.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Davis and her husband Jack of Vero Beach, FL; two sons, Dennis Jackson and his wife Linda of Meadville and Larry Jackson of Cochranton; a sister, Louise Cole of Clarence, NY; ten grandchildren, Tara East, Tiffany Ray, Tennille Shuster, Tricia Besley, Stephani Cormier, Joseph Jackson, Christina Nelson, Heather Poole, Justin Jackson, and Jesse Jackson; twenty three great-grandchildren plus one expected; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Rothrock and two sisters, Margaret Flick and Lorraine Leech.

Calling hour will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 353 Chestnut St., Meadville where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Walton, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 353 Chestnut St. or the Keystone Blind Assn., 310 Chestnut St., #103, both of Meadville, PA 16335.

The arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where memories and condolences may be shared at waidfuneralhome.net.
