Doris Irene Bohrer

June 11, 1921 — January 26, 2005

Doris Irene Bohrer, 83, formerly of Laurel Drive, Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since 1999 died there, Wednesday, January 26, 2005.

She was born in Meadville, June 11, 1921 a daughter of Elmer H. and Etta Medberry Earley.  She married William C. Bohrer September 16, 1944 and he preceded her in death October 20, 1999.

She retired in 1983 as a secretary with Talon after 20 years of service.  She previously also worked at Bell Telephone, Keystone Ordinance Works, American Viscose and Calverts of Baltimore.

She was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and the A.A.R.P.  She and her husband traveled, enjoying their time together.  She also enjoyed reading and her family.

Survivors, include one daughter, Corine Jan Hecker and her husband Edward of Saegertown; one son, Stephen Charles Bohrer of Spokane, WA; one sister, Dorothy Jean Earley of Meadville; five grandchildren Andrea Hecker, Tina Hecker, Matthew Hecker, Zachary Bohrer and Heather McFadden and three great grandchildren

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Sweeney and Gladys Marnen and one brother, Kenneth Earley.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. William L. Brown, Assoc. Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street or the Crawford County READ Program 1002 Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
