Doris May Ellingwood Frye, 88, formerly of Meadville and a resident of St. Ann’s Community, Rochester, NY died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Sunset House Hospice, Rochester, NY.
She was born May 19, 1919 in Littleton, NH a daughter of Ola D. and Anna Cushman Ellingwood. She married William C. Frye, Jr. March 20, 1942 at Stone United Methodist Church and he survives.
She had been a very active member of Stone United Methodist Church until her husband’s retirement as Superintendent from Crawford Central School District. They lived in Orange Park, FL for several years before moving to Rochester, NY four years ago.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of 65 years, include: two daughters, Virginia Wensel and her husband Earl of Rochester, NY and Janine Lawrence and her husband Robert of Endicott, NY; five grandchildren, Dr. Andrew Wensel and his wife Samantha Tolbert, Ben Wensel and his wife Caroline, Jerred Lawrence, Beth Lawrence and Sara Lawrence; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Sconing of Columbus, OH and Olive Frye of Monessen, PA; one brother-in-law, Gilbert Pike of Littleton, NH; a special niece, Jeanne Cressey Goodwin; a nephew, Carleton Pike, two nieces, Carol Casey and Bobbie Cohen and many dear friends at St. Ann’s Community, Rochester, NY and in Orange Park, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Pike and an infant daughter, Meredith Anne Frye.
Graveside services will be Saturday in Greendale Cemetery with the Rev. John Spar, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating.
