Dorothy Ann Prenatt, 84, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. She was born October 7, 1931 in Meadville, a daughter of Arthur and Anna Smith Theuret. She married Arden G. Prenatt November 8, 1952 and he preceded her in death July 11, 2013. Dorothy was a graduate of Meadville High School. She had worked as a sales clerk at the Crawford Store, at Wolfs Hardware and Loblaws Grocery Store, and as a department manager of domestics at K-Mart, Gee Bees, and Value City from where she retired. Dorothy was of the Protestant faith. She was formerly active with the Meadville Area Senior High football boosters in the early 1980s. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and being around people. She was a very unselfish woman who loved and devoted her life to her family and loved the holidays and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sons, Scott Prenatt of Meadville and Patrick Prenatt and his wife Laurie of Irwin; a daughter, Nancy Snell and her husband Jim of Hudsonville, MI; five grandchildren, Matthew Olson and his daughter Ashlynn, Stephanie Olson and her son Brendan, and Nathan, Megan, and Adam Prenatt; a brother, Arthur Theuret, Jr. of Meadville and his daughters, Ruth, Linda, Cathy, and Judy; a brother-in-law, Thomas Prenatt of Meadville and his son Chuck; several nieces and nephews including Mary (Chris) Niemi and her children, Tim and Billy, Judy Gregg and her husband Bob and their son Brandon; and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon (Friel) and Mary Prenatt; a brother-in-law, William E. Prenatt and three sisters-in-law, Shirley Prenatt, Janet Prenatt and Lorraine Theuret. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service and celebration of Dorothys life will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Hasenkopf, Pastor of St. Pauls Reformed Church, officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
