Dorothy E. Kareha, 79, of Conneaut Lake, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at her residence.
She was born July 25, 1928 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Donald W. and Oma (Smith) Smith. She married Paul L. Kareha February 24, 1951 and he preceded her in death February 15, 2005.
A 1947 graduate of Conneautville High School, she attended Allegheny College. Dorothy worked for 10 years as a cashier at Valesky’s in Meadville and previously worked at the Crawford Store, J.C. Penney’s, Kroger’s, and A & P. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Conneautville Chapter 381, Meadville Elks Lodge 219 Auxiliary, Conneaut Lake Historical Society, and Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall. She was a former Girl Scout and 4-H leader and former member of the Rainbow Girls Advisory Board. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, bird watching, boating, fishing, taking trips in their recreational vehicle, and especially spending time with her family.
Dorothy was a member of Harmonsburg Presbyterian Church and its Ladies Aid group.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracy E. Rendulic and her husband Bob of Conneaut Lake; a son, Randy Kareha and his wife Robin of Hartstown; 4 grandchildren, Ryan Kareha and his wife Sabrina, Ross and Renee Kareha and Becca Rendulic; 2 great-grandchildren, Rosalie and Aaron Kareha; several cousins; and her cat, Troubles.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake with an Eastern Star service at 6:45 p.m.
A funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Bryan Powell, Pastor of Linesville Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
