Dorothy J. Exley

Dorothy J. Exley, 79, of 12401 State Hwy. #18, Conneaut Lake and formerly of Franklin, PA and a patient at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville for the past eight years died Saturday, May 25, 2002 following an extended illness.

She was born in Franklin June 8, 1922 a daughter of the late Charles V. and Mary Kunkel Clark.  She married Vern R. Exley December 27, 1944 and he survives.

She and her husband owned and operated Shore Acres Cottages at Conneaut Lake for many years.

She was a member of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, Conneaut Lake, Church Circle and the Decorating Committee and a former member of Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher in the nursery department for many years.  She was a 50-year member of the Nursery Chapter #25 Order of Easter Star of Franklin and she was a 1940 graduate of Franklin High School.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 57 years include: two sons, V. Richard Exley and his wife Darlene of Kennerdell and David C. Exley and his wife Janet of Erie; two grandsons, Jeff Exley and Jason Exley and two nieces.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Eichner.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.  The Order of Easter Star service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral and committal service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Penney A. Fujii, Pastor of Fifth Street Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Park, Cranberry Twp., Venango Co.
