Mrs. Dorothy L. Alford, 62, of RD 2, Saegertown, died suddenly after a brief illness Friday, August 7, 1970, at Hamot Hospital, Erie, where she had been a patient three days.
She was born in Saegertown December 24, 1907, a daughter of William D. and Edith Drake Dickson. She married John N. Alford June 19, 1934.
Mrs. Alford retired in 1966 as a teacher at Townville. She had taught at schools at Blooming Valley, New Richmond and Bethesda Home.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School, attended Allegheny College and graduated from Edinboro Normal School.
Mrs. Alford was an active member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church and its Women's Society of Christian Service.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Wykoff of Erie and Mrs. William (Martha) Troutner of Cambridge Springs and one sister, Mrs. Merle (Winifred) Bideaux of Woodcock.
Services were held at Blooming Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald C. Horton, officiating.
Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
