Dorothy M. Adsit, 91, formerly of Ernst Place, Meadville and a current resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died there Friday, July 25, 2008.
She was born in Meadville June 18, 1917, a daughter of the late Edward C. and Orpha Cutshall Gibson. She married Alfred C. Adsit September 6, 1952 and he preceded her in death October 10, 2005.
She was a graduate of Meadville High School and worked at the G.C. Murphy Company and S and H Green Stamp Store. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a founding member of the Lewis Walker Lodge Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Richard E. Adsit, Sr. and his wife Michele of Meadville; 4 grandchildren, Thom Ann Buttray and her husband Shawn of Cochranton; Richard E. Adsit, Jr. and his wife Chastity of Reedmont, MT; Alfred C. Adsit, II of Meadville; and John W. Adsit of Meadville; 4 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Shawna Buttray and Cameron and Chastin Adsit. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Gibson.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A funeral service will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Benjamin Travis, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
