Dorothy M. Carpenter

Dorothy M. Carpenter, 87, of William Street, Meadville, died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born in Meadville March 7, 1914 a daughter of Dr. Arthur and Charlotte Ewing Ash.  She married Osborne C. Carpenter September 19, 1935 and he survives.

She was a 1931 graduate of Meadville High School, and had been employed at Talon as an office Secretary at one time.  A devoted wife and mother, she was a homemaker and had a life-long love of dogs.  She was of the Lutheran faith and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Meadville.

Survivors, in addition to her husband include: a daughter, Joan Rickard and her husband Don of Unadilla, NY; a son, Carl Carpenter and his wife Karen Johnson of Meadville; four grandchildren, Dan Rickard, Kevin Rickard and his wife Rachele, Joseph Carpenter and his wife Kim and David Carpenter and his wife Marcia and a great granddaughter and several cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Terrill and three brothers, Harry Ash, Ralph Ash and Kenneth Ash.

A private service will be held for the family at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Gretchen Cranz, pastor of Twelve
Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown, officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
