Dorothy M. Flowers

Dorothy M. (Dottie) Flowers, 81, of 469 Baldwin St., Meadville, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at Meadville Medical Center. She was born June 22, 1927 in Camden, NJ, a daughter of the late Otto and Dorothy Marsh Wisner. She married David Ray Flowers August 29, 1947 at Grace Baptist Church in Westmont, NJ. She was a graduate of Collingswood High School, Collingswood, NJ and spent most of her childhood in Westmont, NJ where she met her husband Ray. Dottie came to Meadville in 1951 and was employed by Talon and later had several jobs on Chestnut Street. She was employed part-time for 17 years at Riverside and Bilo Supermarkets. A member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, her enjoyment was taking her dog in the motor home and traveling across the United States. Dottie liked German Shepherd dogs and any cats that wanted a home. Survivors, in addition to her husband Ray of 61 years, include a son, George Flowers and his wife Caren of Meadville; 2 granddaughters, Crista Rae Flowers and Carrie Sue Flowers; a sister, Maryetta Cook and her husband Jim of Haddon Heights, NJ; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Timothy Solomon, Pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
