Dorothy M. Pees, 101, formerly of Meadville and current resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home since December 18, 1990, died there, Wednesday, January 22, 1997 following a period of declining health.
She was born December 2, 1895 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Samuel and Clara Faifield Cook. She married H. Chester Pees on October 1, 1923. He died September 26, 1979.
Mrs. Pees was a graduate of Meadville Public Schools, Edinboro State Normal School, and attended Columbia University. She had been employed as an elementary school teacher in Meadville and previously in Kenmore, NY. She was a member of the Meadville Bird and Tree Club, Crawford Co. Historical Society, John Brown Heritage Society and Western PA Conservancy.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Meadville.
Survivors include a son, Samuel T. Pees of Meadville and two nephews, Marion Dixon of Getsville, NY and Bradley Dixon of Poulsbo, WA.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ada Dixon and Ruby Graves and a brother, Arthur Cook.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
