Dorothy M. Wycoff, 99, of West Harwich, MA and formerly of Meadville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Marquette Hospice House with her daughters by her side.
She was born January 11, 1923 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Albert G. and Mildred Harrington Geiger. She married Robert S. Wycoff November 27, 1945 and he preceded her in death January 19, 2016. During their 70 years of marriage, they lived in Pittsburgh, Sacramento, CA, St. Louis, MO, and ultimately Meadville.
Dorothy was a 1941 graduate of Carrick High School, Pittsburgh. She worked as a bank teller, at Manufacturers Light & Heat Company where she met her husband Robert, and at Koppers Company, all in Pittsburgh. She was owner and operator of The Tik Tok Shop in Meadville for 10 years and with her husband Robert, owned and operated Chatham T West Company in Meadville for 10 years. Dorothy was a skilled seamstress and expert quilter.
Dorothy was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and served on numerous boards and committees throughout the years. She was a member and past president of the Women’s Literary Club of Meadville and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. She was a founding member and president of the Windover Hills Women’s Club in Pittsburgh.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Wycoff of Meadville and Sandra Wycoff-Lang (Jeffrey) of Cape Cod, MA; eight grandchildren, Scott Edwards (Liz Fudacz), Melissa Edwards, Sara Handler (Jeffrey), A Hanus (Bexx Merck), Maxwell Lang (Nicole), Olivia Lang (Jermaine Mitchell), Veronica Lang (Travis Pratt), and Isabel Lang; eight great-grandchildren, Miles, Harper, Brooks, Wyatt, Josh, Griffen, Quinn, and Nolan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Rosemarie Flavin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church, officiating. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St. or Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., both of Meadville, PA 16335.
