Dorothy (Dotty) Marion Sutley, 89, of Guys Mills, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Marquette Hospice House after a courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. She was born February 26, 1927 in Triadelphia, WV, a daughter of the late John and Carey Farmer Beddick, II. The family moved to Guys Mills where she met and married Lester Sutley on June 28, 1944. She was a 1944 graduate of Randolph High School. When Dorothys sons were young, she was a Cub Scout leader and member of the PTA. She was a long-time past secretary and treasurer of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Dotty retired from H & R Block following more than 15 years of service but continued to be the bookkeeper for her sons tool company and help friends and neighbors prepare their tax returns until 2014. Dotty loved her flower garden and on most summer days you would find her out pulling weeds or adding mulch. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and doing the crossword puzzles every morning. Her nights would find her on the computer reading e-mails and playing hidden object games. Dorothy is survived by her husband Lester of over 72 years; two sons, Lester Sutley, Jr. and his wife Carol of Guys Mills and Kerry Sutley and his wife Wanda of Guys Mills; three granddaughters, Shana Davis and her husband Eric of Avondale, AZ, Tristan Beaty and her husband Brad of Navarre, FL, and Loren Acevedo and her husband Tony of Richlands, NC; two grandsons, Travis Sutley of Guys Mills and Taylor Sutley of Guys Mills; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Ward, Alexis Ward, and Gabriel Beaty; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Sutley; a granddaughter, Bryanne Sutley; and a brother, John Beddick, III. As per her wishes, there will be no calling hours and the funeral service will be private. Memorials may be made to the Yolanda G.
