Dorothy Helen (Lilly) Mercier

Dorothy Helen (Lilly) Mercier, 73, of Meadville, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Meadville Medical Center following a sudden illness.

She was born in Meadville September 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Albert and Marie Yoest Mercier.  She had been married to Harold A. Lilly.

A 1952 graduate of Saegertown High School, she was employed in food service at Allegheny College from 1975 to 1985.  She previously worked at Talon from 1968 to 1971 in the lab, as a part-time receptionist for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Crawford County, and part-time at the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

An active member of First Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the Peace Circle, bereavement and flower committees, was an usher and deacon, and participated in several missions trips to Buckhorn, KY and Pittsburgh projects.

Dorothy was a member of TOPS #831, Meadville Neighbors, Senior Center Line Dancers, and Mothers of Twins Club.  She was a volunteer at the Baldwin-Reynolds House, Crawford County Crime Stoppers, RSVP of Crawford County, Meadville Soup Kitchen, Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community Gift Shop, and the Meadville Area Free Clinic.  She loved to cook and bake and was known for her recipes.

Survivors include 3 sons, Melvin Lilly and his wife Patty of Flat Rock, NC; Jeff Lilly and his wife Lori of Meadville; and Mark Lilly and his wife Carol of Meadville; a daughter, Marie Rozakis and her husband James of Meadville; 7 grandchildren, Brad, Ryan, Mackenzie, and Logan Lilly of Meadville, Mallory Rozakis of Meadville, Cara Clark and Morgan Lilly of Brevard, NC; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Pankul of Cambridge Springs; a brother-in-law, Donald Vosburgh of Meadville; 7 nieces, 3 nephews, and several cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Victor Mercier and 2 sisters, Emma Gilbert and Betty Vosburgh.

Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, Pastor officiating.

Interment will be in St. Hippolyte Cemetery, Frenchtown.
