Dorothy Sliker

Dorothy Abbott Sliker, 77, of Meadville, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center. She was born March 27, 1937 in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of William and Cecilia Schweiter Sikorski. She had been married to Kenneth Abbott and subsequently married George Sliker. Dorothy was a 1988 graduate of the Crawford County Vocational Technical School where she received her licensed practical nurses degree. She worked as a nurses aide at the former Spencer Hospital for 10 years and subsequently worked as a LPN at Andover Village, Andover, Ohio and the Crawford County Care Center. She was affiliated with Trinity Lutheran Church, Meadville. Survivors, in addition to her husband George, include four children, Keith Abbott of Meadville, Cynthia Abbott Wenzelburger of Zelienople, Denise Mott Weaver and her husband Randy of Apollo, and Kenneth Paul Abbott, III of Studio City, CA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Laurel Echnoz and Ellen Christie. Calling hour will be Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Brenda Loucks of Linesville First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
