Douglas J. Furno, 58, of Meadville, passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, May 16, 2013 following an extended illness.
He was born December 1, 1954 in Meadville, a son of Anne Bryant Furno and John Furno.
Doug was a 1973 graduate of Meadville High School and a graduate of Edinboro University. He worked at the American Brakeshoe, various roofing and construction jobs, Ferrante Business Machines of Meadville, the Meadville Tribune, and John Weagraff’s BP Station of Meadville.
Doug faithfully attended the Saegertown United Methodist Church. He was a former member and officer of the Italian Civic Club and he enjoyed sports, was an avid golfer at one time, and was a very good swimmer.
Survivors include his mother, Anne Furno of Meadville; his father, John Furno of Meadville; a brother, James Furno of Meadville; three uncles, Gary Bryant of Georgia, Dominic Furno of Meadville, and Alfred Furno, Sr. of Meadville; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle, James Bryant.
Calling hour will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Darrell J. Greenawalt, Pastor of Saegertown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery, Adamsville.
