Doyle Edward Taylor (Ed), of Cleveland, GA and formerly of Saegertown, PA, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 29, 2024.
Ed was born on June 24, 1941, in Somerset, PA, to Doyle and Mary Taylor. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he dedicated many years to Talon Corporation in Meadville, PA. A man of diverse talents, Ed was especially committed to his skilled craftsmanship, building cabinets, replacing roofs, and remodeling homes. He took immense pride in his volunteer work and leadership with the Cub Scouts, where he made a lasting impact. He was also very proud of and loved his family, especially his grandchildren, Tara, Jack, Danny, and Reece.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann (Carr) Taylor, his parents, and his siblings Delores, Delma, Carol, Lea, John and Chuck. Ed leaves behind a legacy of resilience and strength. He was a strong-willed individual, known for facing both scorching Georgia heat and frigid Pennsylvania winters without complaint.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Christina (Max) Thompson, and son, Sean (Carrie) Taylor; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren Ashlyn and Harper; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
Ed was a complex man—surprisingly well-read, a long-time (and sometimes long-suffering) Pirates, Nittany Lions and Steelers fan with strongly held opinions and a sharp mind—and he will be long remembered by those who knew him.
