Dr. Armen Kalfayan

June 25, 1893 — January 1, 1753

Dr. Armen Kalfayan, 60, of Meadville, died Sunday at City Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks.  He was professor of modern languages at Allegheny College.

Although ill about a year, he continued part-time teaching through most of the first semester of the 1953-54 school year.

A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Dr. Kalfayan came to the US in 1921.  He joined the Allegheny  faculty as instructor in French in 1927.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Lewis Wessel of White Plains, NY and Miss Lorraine Kalfayan of Meadville; a brother, Hratchia Kalfayan and sister, Mrs. Stephen Pillibossin, both of Cairo, Egypt, and two nephews, both residing in England.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, OH.
