Dr. Arthur M. Atkinson

Dr. Arthur M. Atkinson, 61, of Guys Mills, died at his home Wednesday, June 9, 1965.

Dr. Atkinson, head of education department and professor of psychology at Shippensburg State College, was born at Pittsburgh April 16, 1904.  He was a son of Andrew and Elizabeth Milligan Atkinson and belonged to a United Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh.

A graduate of Edinboro State College, he received his doctor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1939.  He taught at the University of Pittsburgh and New Richmond High School.  He was a psychologist in the Army during World War II.

Surviving are two sisters, Miss Violet Atkinson of Meadville and Miss Bessie Jane Atkinson of Pittsburgh and several cousins.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Evert of United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, officiating.

Interment was in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
