Dr. Arthur Mills Langdon, 95, of Meadville died Thursday, June 04, 2015 in Stow, OH at his daughter’s home where he had been residing for the past five years.
He was born July 28, 1919 in Carnegie, PA a son of Arthur Mills and Bessie J. Mackie Langdon. He married Anne Kennedy Paddison October 25, 1947 and she preceded him in death August 20, 2004.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Veterinary Corps. He graduated in 1941 from Penn State University and in 1945 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
He owned and operated his own veterinary practice in Meadville for several years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Bovine Association, the Meadville Country Club, the Iroquois Club, Meadville Roundtable and for over 50 years the First Presbyterian Church. He was also one of the founders of Meadville Little Gridders, Chairman of the building committee when the Crawford County Humane Society built their building and served on the board of the Meadville YMCA. In later years he loved golf and drawing.
He is survived by three children, A. Kennedy Langdon of Coconut Creek, FL, Dr. Brian D. Langdon of Meadville and Heather A. Carlson and her husband Larry of Stow, OH; six grandchildren, Vanessa A. Letera and her husband Matthew of Stow, OH, Jeffrey R. Carlson and his wife Kelly of Cincinnati, OH, Natalie J. Marignoni and her husband Matthew of Munroe Falls, OH, Elizabeth A. Langdon of Dallas, TX, Christopher J. Langdon of Coconut Creek, FL and Jeremy T. Langdon of Coconut Creek, FL; two great grandchildren, Molly and Jake Letera and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Calling hours will be Friday, June 12th from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Saturday, June 13th at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville with Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.
