Dr. Carl Sturdevant, 82, of Meadville, died Sunday, May 10, 1987, at Wesbury United Methodist Community following a brief illness.
Dr. Sturdevant was born in Linesville, November 21, 1904, a son of Dr. Homer and Ada Salisbury Sturdevant. He married Louise E. Leimbach, May 27, 1932. She survives.
He was a 1922 graduate of Linesville High School and a 1928 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, where he received his doctor of dental surgery degree. He practiced general dentistry in Linesville with his father for one year after graduation. He began his practice in Meadville in 1929 with Dr. G. S. Phillips before going into private practice in 1933. He retired from his practice in 1984.
He was a heavily involved in numerous professional and social organizations and clubs. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army Air Corps' Dental Corps. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Laura Thomas.
Services were held with Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
