Dr. Jack N. Battersby, 78, of Melbourne, FL and Dorset, OH, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Wuesthoff Medical Center, Melbourne.
He was born in Kansas City, MO February 26, 1929, a son of the late Isaac Newton and Betsy Ann Hunt Battersby. He married Norma Bailey November 28, 1953 and she preceded him in death July 23, 2003.
He was a graduate of Springfield High School, Springfield, PA and a 1956 graduate of the National College of Chiropractic, Chicago, IL. He was a Sergeant in U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He worked as a Chiropractor for 50 years, having owned the Mentor Chiropractic Center, Mentor, OH.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Alkoran Shrine, Cleveland, OH and was an active member of the Mentor, OH and Melbourne, FL Lions Clubs. A social person, he enjoyed helping others and playing tennis.
He was a member of Good Shepard Wesleyan Church, Satellite Beach, FL.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Jacquelyn Bond and her husband Dr. Bruce of Beachwood, OH; a son, Dr. Gregg Battersby and his wife Amy of Kirtland, OH; 4 grandchildren, Brandon and Marissa Bond and Sydney and Madison Battersby; a brother, Chet Battersby and his wife Alice of Erie; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend and traveling companion, Eileen Harris of Melbourne, FL. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Eugene, Daun, Lawrence, George, Edward, and Richard Battersby; and a sister, Ethel Winterhalter.
Calling hour will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake where a funeral service will follow at noon.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepard Wesleyan Church, 501 Cinnamon Dr., Satellite Beach, FL 32937.
