Dr. James M. Laur

March 25, 1927 — August 16, 2006

Dr. James M. Laur, 79, of Jamestown, PA, died August 16, 2006 at UPMC Hospital, Greenville.

He was born in Pittsburgh March 25, 1927 the son of Regis and Margaret Nagy Laur.  He was of the Catholic faith.

He served with the US Navy and was attached to the Marine Corp. during WWII.  He attended St. Francis College, Duquesne University and Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Dr. Laur was a self-empoyed Optometrist in Greenville for 43 years and Conneaut Lake for 20 years.  He was active in eye program of the Conneaut Lake Lions Club where he provided his time and services to many free of any charge.

He was a member Optometrist in Greenville Lions Club, a charter member of the Conneaut Lake Lions Club, life member of Greenville VFW Post 3374 and the American Legion Post 140, member of Greenville Moose Lodge #276, Andover Eagles and Greenville BPOE #145.  He was past president of Greenville County Club and past president of Greenville Skating Assn. and member of the US Ice Skating Assn.  He was also a member of Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall and Pymatuning Sportsman Club.

He enjoyed flying, sailing and most of all socializing with his many friends throughout his life.

He is survived by two daughters, Lynn A. Laur (Mitch) of Boston, MA and Patricia J. Laur of Greenville; two sisters, Nancy Laur of Pittsburgh and Peggy Laur of Airzona.

Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
