Dr. James R. McLamb, age 90, of Meadville, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on July 8, 2024.
James was a graduate of Williams College and Temple University Health and Sciences Center earning his M.D. in 1960. He completed an Internship at Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital followed by the Orthopedic Residency program at Temple University and Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.
James proudly served his country in the US Navy, as a Lt. Commander Medical Corps, Chief of Orthopedics, U S Naval Hospital Portsmouth, NH. After, James accepted a Fellowship in specialty orthopedics at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital, Los Angeles, CA. He then returned to Philadelphia as Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Temple Health Sciences and Shriners Hospital with his friend and mentor Dr. John Lachman, Chairman of Orthopedics, Temple University. Professor Emeritus.
James founded Orthopedic Associates of Meadville (OAM) in 1969 and over 50 years later the practice continues to serve the community. After OAM, James became the Medical Director at Meadville Medical Center until his retirement.
A longtime member of the Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club in Conneaut Lake and a previous member of the Meadville Literary Union. He was Lutheran by faith and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Meadville.
In addition to his beloved wife, Beverly (Weber) McLamb he is survived by his children: Loren E. Filion of Grand Rapids, MI; and her children Chandler (Matt Reed), great grandchild Penelope Reed, sons Jack Filion and Michael Filion.

Michael H. (Kari) McLamb of Ozona, FL; their children Angelo Antolino, Taylor McLamb, Michael McLamb and John McLamb.
Kacie M. McLamb and Michael Saladino of Gibsonia, PA.
Matthew M. (Erin) McLamb of Saegertown, PA.
Kuma, his beloved Akita.
Sister: Judy Edminster of Indianapolis, IN.
James was preceded in death by his parents Manley B. McLamb and Harriet K. (Thiess) McLamb.
A private service will be held at a later date.
