Dr. John B. Cooley

August 13, 1912 — May 15, 1979

Dr. John B. Cooley, 66, retired radiologist, died Tuesday, May 15, 1979, at his residence in Conneaut Lake.  Dr. Cooley died after a brief illness following a stroke.

He was born in Philadelphia, August 13, 1912, a son of John G. and Ethel Beagle.  He married the former Bernadene Ramge on June 15, 1938.

Dr. Cooley retired in 1976 from Meadville City Hospital after 25 years of service.  He was graduated from Wittenberg University in 1934 and Syracuse College of Medicine in 1940.  He was president of Alpha Kappa Medical Fraternity during his senior year.  He interned at Providence Hospital, Detroit, and served his radiology residency there until he entered the service during World War II.

He served 38 months during the war in the Army Medical Corps, practicing radiology, and for one year was the only radiologist in the South Atlantic at Recife, Brazil.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Sharon) P. Czaika of Marblehood, Mass., Mrs. Dominic (Janet) Spain of Mentor, OH, Mrs. R. Thomas (Barbara) Henry of Meadville, and Mrs Forrest (Mary Jo) Price of Fayettville, NC; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.


Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
