Dr. John J. Nicklas, D.O.

Dr. John J. Nicklas, D.O., 77, of Fort Myers, FL and formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at his residence.

John was a graduate of Geneva College with a B.S. in Pre-Med and a 1967 graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery.  John was the medical director at Passavant Health Center and the preceptor through the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for the Nurse Practitioner program at Edinboro University from 1970 to 1984. He held his own private practice in Evans City and subsequently at Meadville Medical Center.  He was a member of the American and Pennsylvania Osteopathic Associations and Harmony Masonic Lodge 429.

John was born on May 7, 1941, in Harmony, PA, to Joseph Carl and Bernice Heberling Nicklas.  He is survived by, his loving wife Susie, son, Scott Nicklas (Summer) of Punta Gorda, FL and six grandchildren, Luke Nicklas, Kendall, Kaylie, Kaitlyn and Brendan Chavarria and Easton Pufahl.

Calling hours will be Friday, February 1st from 4 to 7 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE with a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m.

The funeral service will be Saturday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Hydie Houston officiating.

The committal service and interment will be Saturday in Grace Church Cemetery, Harmony, PA upon arrival from Conneaut Lake at approximately 12:30 p.m.

A memorial service will be held in Florida at a future date and time.
