Dr. John P. Shook, of Meadville, died Tuesday, January 2, 1962, at City Hospital following an illness of a few days.
He was employed as a slaughter house inspector for the State Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Animal Industry. Dr. Shook had resided in Meadville for about nine years.
He was born at Spring Mills, Centre County, a son of George F. and Mary Agnes Keen Smock, and married the former Louise Kimes.
Dr. Shook graduated from Pennsylvania State University and received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He practiced veterinary medicine at Franklin and Washington, PA, for about 40 years before coming to Meadville.
Dr. Shook was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Surviving, besides his widow, are a son, Walter A. of Corona, CA; a sister, Mrs. William (Erma) Schultz of Madisonburg; a brother, Charles of Spring Mills and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Heckman Cemetery.
