Dr. Julia D. Marshall

Dr. Julia D. Marshall, 97, of Meadville, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center.

She was born July 15, 1914 in Farrell, a daughter of James Guy and M. Gertrude DeFrance Marshall.

Julia was a graduate of Farrell High School, Kent State University where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and the University of Maryland where she received her Doctorate of Education degree.  She worked as a professor of psychology at several colleges and universities and retired in 1976 from the Psychology department at Edinboro University.

Julia was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the American Association of University Women and the Meadville Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Survivors include a sister, Rowena Rust of Saegertown and nieces and nephews, Albert Marshall of Alexandria, VA, John Marshall of Atlanta, GA, Heather Bress of Sharpsville, Minnette Clepper of Saegertown, Graydon Rust of Colorado, and Lorraine Price of Saegertown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Alexander and Albert Marshall.

Calling hours will be Monday from 12 to 2 p.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty St., Meadville where the funeral and committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Brian Jensen, church Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Mumford Chapel Cemetery.
