Dr. Ned Dewar Mervine

August 12, 1911 — January 1, 1753

Dr. Ned Dewar Mervine, of Meadville, died at the home of his son, Robert D. Mervine at Willingboro, NJ, after a long illness.

Dr. Mervine had been a practicing physician in the Meadville area for the past 30 years.  He was born August 12, 1911, at Hillsgrove, a son of Anna and Robert Mervine.

He received a bachelor of science degree from Allegheny College in 1932 and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College at Philadelphia in 1936.  He served his internship and internal medicine residency at Guthrie Clinic and Robert Packer Hospital at Sayre, the Medical Society of Pennsylvania, the American College of Chest Physicians and the International Academy of Medicine.  He served on the medical staff of Meadville City Hospital and on the courtesy staff at Spencer Hospital.

Dr. Mervine was married to Ruth Elizabeth Catlin of Sayre on September 3, 1938.

Dr. Mervine was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge, NW Commandery Solomon Royal Arch Chapter; the Scottish Rite Bodies at New Castle; Zem Zem Shrine Temple, the American Legion, Elks, Iroquois Club and Taylor Hose Company.  He was a flight surgeon during World War II - 1942 through 1946.  He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruth Mervine; two sons, Robert D. Mervine of Willingboro, NJ and Charles N. Mervine of Guys Mills; his mother, Mrs. Anna M. Mervine of Meadville; a brother, Donald S. Mervine of Warren and a sister, Miss Jane S. Mervine of Indiana.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
