Dr. Oscar Perry Akers, 80, professor-emeritus of Allegheny College, died July 15, 1952 at City Hospital, where he had been a patient for six weeks.
His death was on the eve of his 56th wedding anniversary, caused by a heart condition.
Since Dr. Akers retirement in 1942 form the position he held for 37 years, head of the college's mathematics department, he and his wife resided at RD 2, Meadville, off Route 98 south of Littles Corners.
His widow, the former Ella M. Tarr, a Missourian like himself, is Dr. Akers' only close survivor. Mrs. Akers' sister, Miss Anna Tarr, resides at the Akers home. Two nephews also survive.
Interment will be at Greendale Cemetery.
