Dr. Richard H. Stancliff, 88, a former Erie physician and Erie resident and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community since 1986, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Erie January 12, 1918, a son of the late Dana and Cassie Mae Stancliff. He married Betty Wagner October 19, 1946 and she survives.
Dr. Stancliff was a graduate of the Erie Public Schools, Grove City College, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a physician in Erie, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Erie.
He was a member of the Tyrian Masonic Lodge, Erie, former member of Mt. Olivet Commandry #30, enjoyed music, was a drummer in various bands, playing in the Erie area, and enjoyed traveling and the Elder Hostel programs.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a niece, Janice Fluegel and a nephew, Dana Fluegel, both of Jacksonville, FL; and three great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Suzette Fluegel.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Cribbs Home, Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville.
A funeral and committal service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in McCracken Chapel, Cribbs Home, Wesbury with the Rev. Ellen Rezek, Wesbury Chaplain, officiating.
Interment will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, Erie.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
